Build an Outfit Series: City Break Outfits

City breaks make for the perfect long weekend. You can see the sights, explore a new country, and don’t have to worry about sand getting everywhere. 

While it’s important to be comfy, you obviously want to look good, too. 

But where do you start?

Here are our top tips on how to build an outfit that’s fit for the city, without having to compromise on style. 

City breaks often mean getting your steps in, so make sure you think practically when packing. Get some comfy trainers and a cross-body bag - and don’t forget a portable phone charger! 

When it comes to clothing, it’s good to have staple pieces you can count on to see you through your travels. Simple styles you can dress up and down are a must for any city break. 

What about a skort? Yes, our minds go to tennis when we think of skorts, too - but they’re actually a great option for weekend breaks. 

You can benefit from the look of a mini skirt, without the danger of chafing (no one wants that ruining a holiday). It’s a win-win if you ask us.

Prepare yourself for the weather

Are you staying in the UK, or jetting off to explore a new city?

Wherever you’re off to, make sure you’re ready for the weather. 

Pack a denim jacket and a folding umbrella if sunshine isn’t guaranteed, and make sure you have appropriate footwear - we doubt you want to be walking through rain puddles in your flip-flops.

 

Don’t forget the accessories 

Are you really going on holiday if you can’t treat yourself to a new pair of earrings or a shoulder bag?

Having a collection of fun accessories means you can pack a bit lighter on the clothes front, and mix up your style without needing to pay extra for more luggage.

If you don’t have time to get changed before your evening plans, just swap your trainers for strappy sandals and add statement jewellery for an instant lift to a previously simple outfit. 

Accessories are the key ingredient in a summer capsule wardrobe. 

 

What about a night out look?

While you may have an itinerary planned to make sure you check out all the top tourist spots, it’s a good idea to pack something fit for a special occasion. 

Pick something simple you can wear a few times, or push the boat out and opt for a trend piece you wouldn’t normally add to your basket.
