How to slay summer styling

Warmer weather is on the way (it is, we promise!). It’s time to shed those heavy-duty sweatshirts, paint your tootsies and step out for summer.

But wearing what?

This summer, there’s lots to shout about. Holidays are a goer, weddings are on, and festivals are back in full swing. Meaning you need a wardrobe that will take you anywhere and everywhere.

What’s hot for summer ‘22?

The key to summer styling is keep it simple. Lightweight, easy-wear clothes that work whether you decide to hit the beach, or the bar.

And the great news is, if you feel you’ve really nailed your spring wardrobe, many of the looks continue to feature in the sunshine season too – winner!

Colour

Colour has popped throughout spring but if ever there’s a season to take it up a notch, summer is it. Go bold and bright, and bring the holiday vibe even when it’s raining.

Better yet - any colour goes! So, whether you’re beach or office-bound, lift your mood, turn heads, and brighten everyone’s day with bold colours that showcase summer.

Low-key luxe

All the glam none of the drama. Effortless style is a key look for summer, but it’s not all about laidback bohemian beachwear. Summer suits are ruling too.

Can’t think of anything worse than a stiff suit on a hot day? It’s all good. The season’s trend for tailored office wear brings with it lightweight fabrics and breezy colourways, making for structured styling without the stuffiness.

And if matchy-matchy isn’t your thing, mix it up. Pair trousers (we love The Samantha Palazzo trousers in champagne) with a soft white blouse for an easy summer look that works in the office and on the plane - although we all know where we’d rather be!

Skin is in

From cut out dresses to stomach flaunting separates, summer is the season to bare all.

Think sexy cross over tops, crop tops, cut out dresses and shoulder flaunting Bardots.

Platforms

Platforms are raising the footwear stakes this summer! From strappy evening wear to everyday sandals - even flip-flops have gone up in the world.

Combining a flattering lift with the comfort of the lockdown flats we’re struggling to abandon - platforms are big this season. With everything from low(ish) level workwear to dizzying party heights, you’ll find an elevation for every event.  

The maxi

Layer up

The oversized blazer continues to be relevant for summer ’22. And why not when it works so well? Sling over a tee and denim shorts, or pair with a floaty summer dress for added style and extra warmth.

Don’t forget to invest in a couple of lightweight knits and jersey wear too. Great for layering up on the chilly early morning coffee run, for cool evenings, or to have on standby if the weatherman lets you down.

Shorts

A summer staple, get your legs out this summer with a pair of cute shorts. Easy to dress up or down, they can take you just about anywhere.

Bikinis

Check the catwalks and you’ll see the bikini has left the beach! Teamed with trousers and blazers the bikini top is showing up everywhere. Not sure we’re brave enough to flaunt beachwear anywhere other than poolside, but if you are, we salute you!

The basic tee is a summer must. The perfect partner for skirts, shorts, jeans, trousers – just about anything really. Keep it classic with crisp white or bold it out with vibrant shades and prints.

Accessories

Don’t forget those all-important finishing touches. We’re talking a pair of killer shades for serious summer styling and a floppy sun hat.
