Our spring/summer style crushes

This February we’re swooning over great fashion instead.

With the first of this year’s London fashion weeks running 17^th- 21^st, the only thing we’re going to be falling for this month is great style.

Even the frivolous world of fashion can’t ignore what’s going on in the world right now and we’re seeing this reflected on the catwalk with a real appetite for simplicity.

This pared-back appeal is a relatable look that’s great for everyday dressing, helping to keep your look fashionable and functional.

The maxi

Simplicity may be key, but when it comes to skirts it’s time to take it to the max!

Full length, ankle-kissing maxi skirts are where it’s at for the season ahead.

A look we love at any time but a particular favourite as we move towards the warmer months. Think strappy sandals, skimpy vests, and feminine floaty skirts.

Not sure full length is the right look for you? Fortunately, the office favourite of knee length is also bang on trend. Dress up with heels or team with trainers and a cropped cardigan for an everyday take on catwalk fashion and get ready to swish your way into spring.

And relax. Skinny fit has loosened its grip on the fashion world with wide-leg, slouchy jeans taking the top spot in fashionistas’ hearts.

Opt for prewashed denim in light shades, to nail your look for the rest of the year.

Go big or go home

Like to cover all eventualities? Not known for travelling light? Then you’re going to love SS23’s take on handbags – the bigger the better!

Giving a whole new meaning to a ‘bucket’ bag, this spring you’ll never get caught short with the latest it bag on your shoulder. Purse, lippy, umbrella - this bag has room for practically everything (kitchen sink excluded).

Whatever your preferred shape or style of shoulder bag, super-size it and you’re guaranteed to be bang on trend.

Metallics

A stalwart of autumn/winter collections, but not a look that often transcends into spring wardrobes - this year metallics are breaking all the rules. So, expect to see shimmering silver, gold, and bronze featuring heavily.

Crochet just got sexy

Yes, you did read that right! Crochet is hot for the coming season, offering a new take on knitwear for the warmer months.

This open cobweb-like look works great as a throw over – think cardigans and beachwear - but as a key trend expect to see this needlework cropping up everywhere.

Colour me beautiful

Always a classic but a sure-fire winner this year, white is featuring highly on catwalks across all the fashion capitals of the world.

Perfect as we head into spring, tuck a loose-fitting shirt into jeans, team a white tee with a maxi skirt or don a simple white dress for head-to-toe style.

Break into a sweat at the thought of trying to stay clean dressed in white? Then go green instead. Or more specifically lime green. This zesty shade is another catwalk fave, full of energy and vibrance.

Bare all

The FROW is braced for blushes this February fashion week, with baring all set to be a key theme.

From cut-out dresses to sheer fabrics that leave little to the imagination, this is a look not designed for the faint-hearted.

Wear the trousers

Maxi skirts may be taking centre stage, but trousers are refusing to be edged out of the equation.

For SS23 it’s any cut. Oversized and baggy through to straight-leg, cropped and tailored - wear your trousers your way.
