The Festival Fashion Guide

It’s festival season and we couldn’t be happier!
Glitter everywhere, funky hairstyles and a carefree weekend with your best mates.
What more could you want?
Festival fashion has been around since we can remember. The OG’s Kate Moss and Alexa Chung started off the cheeky denim shorts and wellies combo, while club events brought back neon fishnets and out-there make-up styles.
If you’re on the hunt for the perfect outfit, we’re here to help. Keep reading for our top tips on how to master festival fashion.

Comfort is key for festival fashion

You don’t need to have been to a festival to know attending will rack up your step count (whether that’s due to walking or two-stepping in the dance tent), so it’s vital you’re as comfy as possible.

Stretch is key. Flared leggings, cycling shorts and your trusty two-piece sets are made for exploring the festival and sitting in the sun (or rain…thanks UK!) with your friends.

SS Top Tip: Go for old, comfy trainers or walking boots you don’t mind getting damaged.

The YAS Yasmine Green Top and Shorts are a comfy yet stylish option for any festival. The bright green duo can be worn together or separately across the weekend and instantly injects colour into any look.

Nearly nude

Are you really at a festival if you can’t get a bit of bum cheek out?

Festivals are the place to wear things you can’t really get away with in day-to-day life.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen people push it to the limits when it comes to barely-there pieces that leave little to the imagination.

Don’t worry, we’re not telling you to prance about in your birthday suit.

By wearing mesh fabrics, crochet designs and the most mini of minis, you can create the illusion of a nearly nude silhouette that’s perfect for festival season.

The Storm Label Sage Cross Top is perfect if you fancy showing a bit more skin.

We love pairing this with a simple denim mini skirt and black boots for a day-to-night festival look you can count on.

This is a great piece to wear post-festival too! It’s the ideal companion on nights out and pairs perfectly with leather trousers and heels.

Mix n’ Match

The limits are off when it comes to print clashing at a festival.

Go bright, bold and beautiful!

Pack your leopard print trousers, neon tank tops and checkerboard print bag to really embrace the festival season.

For a simple but effective start to adding prints to your look, we love the Billie Slip Dress in Blue by Zibi London. The classic shape makes it easy to wear and style, while the simple pattern creates a great base for layering.

Oh so British

Since the dawn of time socialites, models and actresses have been strutting around popular music festivals, starting trends without even knowing it.

We’ve seen the rise of the parker, the denim shorts and tights combination, and chunky biker boots.

If you’re going for a look inspired by British icons, the main aim is to go practical with your shoes and jacket choices, but add a touch of personality with your favourite items.

The most impactful looks are the ones you don’t expect. The contrast between a field full of mud and a leather dress is oh-so delightful and forms an off-duty model, unbothered look to die for.

It’s all about attitude when it comes to festival outfits, so keep it modern, fresh and most importantly, YOU!

Festival outfits can be simple too!

Because it’s a festival, it doesn’t mean you should shy away from simple cuts and colours when packing for your weekend away.

The Vmudava One Shoulder ⅞ Dress in Black from Vera Moda is a minimal yet stylish piece that can be worn all year round, not just for festival season.

Dress it up with heels and full-glam make-up, or dress down with trainers and a denim jacket for a look perfect for summer.

Embrace the accessories

If you’re looking for a festival fit for less, accessories will be your new best friend.

Wearing bright and statement jewellery, stand-out bags and hair clips can instantly transform any outfit and make it look like you’ve made more of an effort than you actually have (a life saviour on day three when the eye bags are getting a bit out of hand).

Throw on a western-style hat and a pair of huge sunglasses and go and enjoy your day.

Prepare for festival season

Before you go, we can’t help but be the mother hen and tell you to prepare yourself for every occasion.

Take a hoodie for the cold walk back to your tent, drink enough water and dear God, apply SPF regularly!

Remember your bucket hat and crossbody bag, and have FUN!
