Trends To Watch Out For In Spring/Summer 2022

Spring/summer can be a hard few months when it comes to styling - especially with the unpredictable weather making it even more challenging to choose an outfit that’s on point.
To make things a bit easier, we’ve curated a list of all the trends you need to look out for this season.
From sexy styles to familiar favourites, the trends of spring/summer 2022 are not ones to be messed with (or missed!).
Keep reading for a full overview of the styles you need to watch out for this spring/summer.

Beige doesn't have to be boring

Neutral tones are the perfect way to create a capsule wardrobe that can be taken from day to night.
Think lightweight materials like linen and cotton for a fresh look that stands the test of time.
SS Prediction: Neutral tones will always be on-trend, no matter the season!
Minimalism is an easy trend to finesse. Neutral tones such as creams, beiges and browns are guaranteed to pair together without competing with one another.
Top Tip: Wear items with the same undertone to create a chic look that looks like it’s straight off the runway. If one item has too much of a red tone it can create a clash that throws off the simplistic style you’re aiming for.
We’re loving the White Leather Tank from Kands London at the minute. The soft white shade makes for a great staple piece that goes with your neutral staples and beyond.
If you want to explore the minimalistic trend of neutral on neutral but love patterns a bit too much, we’ve got you covered.
Keep the base of your look as simple as you can, and jazz up with a contrasting jacket, bag or shoe. Think leopard print boots, a bright bag or some statement jewellery to make the trend of the season a bit more you.

Biker chick is back and better than ever

We have some good news for you ladies!
The biker style is back and better than ever.
Dust off your leather jackets and get ready to style them up.
Although we've not seen them out and about for a while, biker-style leather jackets have featured on the runway multiple times in a few different ways.
The classic boxy style with zip detailing and metal hardware is the one you’ll see the most. Worn with leather skirts or contrasting blue denim, the classic biker jacket can be styled up or down with ease.
Committing to a full leather look is a simple way to make a statement. Throw on your favourite biker jacket with some leather trousers - we’re loving the ones from Worth A Million - and you’re good to go.
If strong shapes covered in studs aren’t your vibe, a smarter yet impactful style has also been seen in recent collections. Although a much more simplistic design, many designers have featured strong lapels onto fitted silhouettes for a 70s-inspired twist on the punk classic.
Whether you’re in the mood for something more simple or want to amp it up a level, you’re guaranteed to find a biker jacket that suits your style.

Taking mini skirts to a whole new level

Mini skirts have featured in numerous collections over the decades.
Suede designs in the 70s and denim cuts in the 90s show that mini skirts have always been in style.
But what makes them different for 2022?
Designers are calling it the micro-mini. Combined with a low-waisted design, it’s the shortest style we’ve seen in a long time.
Worn on the hips and seen in a variety of fabrics, the new age mini skirt might only just cover your bum cheeks but, wow oh wow, you’ll be on-trend.
For a bit more coverage, pair with a longer jacket or tights to make sure nothing slips out on the dancefloor.

Business in the front, party in the back

With summer finally here (for just a few short weeks if you’re in the UK like us) it’s only natural you want to get a bit more skin out to catch a tan and keep you cool.
This year it’s all about keeping it a bit more covered up at the front and showing off your back with a range of different styles.
Whether it’s a full backless look, a simple tie design or using mesh fabrics for an illusion of exposed skin, having fun with the back of an outfit is high up on the spring/summer trend list.
Keep it simple with low-back mini dresses or get inspired by the draping silks that create volume and interest in a look. The Lavish Alice Balloon Sleeve Open Back Top combines a chic yet on-trend look that’s perfect for catch-ups that go on well into the night.

Making nautical chic

Does anyone else think of sailors when they see stripes?
No? Just us?
Stripes have taken a turn this year and are being featured across the runway. Nautical stripes are no longer.
Our old friend now comes in contrasting directions, with varying thicknesses and are paired with clashing styles for a look worth remembering.
Whether it’s a mini dress, sweater vest or a-line, structured shirt, stripes will give your outfit a whole new lease of life.
The bold yet familiar pattern creates a new dimension that intrigues the eye. The simplicity of stripes makes the list of compatible items an endless one, so you never have to worry about looking out of place or like you’ve got dressed in the dark.

Barely there

Did you read our Autumn/Winter Trend Predictions blog post?
A key trend prediction was fabrics and styles that create a barely-there illusion, named by designers as the new sexy
But it looks like it’s making an appearance earlier than we expected.
Sheer mesh fabrics in short and tight styles are a primary trend of the season.
The key to mastering this trend is confidence. Freeing the nipple, taking the hemline shorter than usual and embracing your décolletage may be a bit daunting at first, but with the right bits covered and a bad b*tch attitude, you’re guaranteed to turn heads.

Don’t be shy about colour

Spring and summer are the months to experiment with brighter shades of your favourite colours.
The juicy colour combinations of the SS22 catwalk looks include tangerine and raspberry, lemon and chocolate brown and fuschia and emerald green.
Whether it’s an injection of colour or a head-to-toe statement, using colour as a way to show off your personality fits perfectly with the warmer days and cosy nights.
It’s not always about mixing colours either. If you’re loving purple at the minute, or want to experiment with shades of blue, keep it monochrome for an equally cool look that’s perfect for every occasion.
Go for an all-pink look or a two-piece with accessories of a lighter shade for a chic style you can wear again and again.
If you want to let the dress do the talking, why not try the Vesper Nishee Red Mini Dress for a classic look with a twist?
Keep it simple with all red or go for contrasting accessories to dominate the colour blocking trend this season.

Glitter, glitter and more glitter!

When it comes to night-time styling in the warmer months, it’s all about heavily embellished materials that make sure you stand out from the crowd.
Sequin cocktail dresses, sparkling mesh tops and crystal enhancements are a quick and easy way to make sure all eyes are on you when you take those first steps into a bar.
There’s no such thing as being overdressed this summer!
Don’t fancy the idea of head-to-toe sparkles? Add some shimmer to your outfits with accessories. Opt for statement jewellery, contrasting bags and heels for an extra bit of shine.
Keep it casual with your fave jeans and t-shirt combo and throw on a glittery baguette bag or bold necklace for a relaxed look that’s still on trend.

Modern tailoring

Pantsuits and shoulder pads are what take tailored pieces to a whole new level.
While traditionally masculine and strong, the combination of tones and textures can create an uber-feminine style you can wear for every occasion.
The 2022 take on tailoring is no doubt comfort-driven, but still uses strong angles and structured shapes to enhance the well-loved tailored items.
Tailoring doesn’t always mean officewear. Pairing a blazer with a fun tulle skirt or a wool waistcoat with a cotton t-shirt creates interesting depth and an edge unique to you.

Lizzie McGuire-inspired looks aren’t going anywhere

Last but not certainly not least, is the millennial style.
Y2K styling sneakily made its way back into the fashion world in the past few years, and there are no signs of the trend going anywhere anytime soon.
Although the trend is somewhat the same, it has had a bit of a revamp this spring/summer - giving your outfits a more sophisticated edge.
The key trend for this summer is low-waisted everything. From jeans to cargo pants and minis to maxis, having your lower belly on show is a look popular on both the runway and high street.
Crop tops, butterflies (on everything) and belly chains are a must-have for your wardrobe this year. Having subtle details scattered throughout your outfit creates a well-thought-out look that perfectly combines the fun and carefree vibe of the early 2000s with modern-day, chic styling.
